Welcome!
All of us at Port Sorell SLSC are pleased to welcome our Surf Life Saving family from around Tasmania to our club for the SLST Statewide Junior Carnival #3.
We love putting on a carnival almost as much as we enjoy competing in them, so we’ve gone to great lengths to help you feel at home.
In line with our key club aim of “Bringing the Community to the Beach”, we hope that the event will attract spectators from our wonderful community who will have the opportunity to see what the surf sports side of Surf Life Saving is all about.
So our youngest SLS members don’t miss out, we’ll run some U6 & U7 events in the afternoon, including a foamie race once the tide permits.
In addition to all the surf sports action, we’ve put on a mini-version of our popular Markets by the Sea, as well as providing some live music to keep us busy once the beach and water activities draw to an end.
We hope you have a great day, but if there’s anything we can do to make it even better for you, please speak with one of our members.

Junior Carnival Program
The following program has been developed by the PSSLSC carnival committee, in conjunction with SLST and the Carnival Officials.
It is intended to be a guide to the order of events, and a rough indication of timing, but is subject to change depending on the conditions on the day and the final number of entrants in each event.
Given the anticipated number of competitors, a decision has been made to bring the All Age Relays forward to the beginning on the day, so there is no chance of other events delaying the start of the All Age.
Briefings for Officials and Age Managers commence at 8:15am on the upper deck of the club house.

U6 & U7 Activities
We know that lots of U6 & U7 Nippers come along to Carnivals to cheer on their siblings (and eat their own weight in snacks). We’d love them to have the opportunity for a bit of friendly competition and to experience a Carnival for themselves.
As long as the weather plays nicely, we’ll put on some little Nipper friendly events, both in the water and on the sand.
If the sun is shining, the water directly in front of our clubhouse is knee-deep and as warm as it gets.
No need to register, just listen for the announcements. Parents/caregivers will need to directly supervise the children.
We’ll supply the foamies, if you remember to bring their rashies and skull caps!

Parking
Parking is very limited at the club, so competitor/visitor parking will be provided on Shearwater Park at the end of Freer Street, Shearwater.
Club trailers can be parked in the lower surf club carpark, but tow vehicles will need to be relocated to the upper carpark once the trailer has been dropped off.

COVID Reminders
No event is complete without a series of reminders about COVID Safe behaviour.
We want everybody to be healthy and safe, and for the event to be COVID compliant.
Please remember to:

- Hand sanitise regularly & practice good hygiene
We would encourage everybody to download the Check In Tasmania app and use this to register your attendance at the event.
